3422 Festuca L.
Notes: Northern fescues have been extensively investigated in North America (e.g., Frederiksen 1982; Alexeev 1985; Aiken and Darbyshire 1990; Aiken and Fedak 1992; Aiken et al. 1995), Russia (e.g., Alexeev 1981, 1982, 1983; Alexeev et al. 1987a, 1987b, 1988, 1990), and in the North Atlantic regions (e.g., Frederiksen 1974, 1977, 1981; Salvesen 1986; Fjellheim et al. 2001; Guldahl et al. 2001). Still, there are problems connected to several species, especially F. brachyphylla s. lat., F. rubra s. lat., F. ovina s. lat., and the viviparous plants.
