Notes: Elven and Murray: We tentatively accept Chamaepericlymenum and Swida apart from Cornus. There are molecular and phylogenetic investigations (Fan and Xiang 2001; Xiang et al. 2006) that gives some support for segregates in Cornus s. lat. (as subgenera) but they include comparatively few species. One facet of these studies is the suggested relationship between Chamaepericlymenum and the much more southern Cornus florida group.
