(2) 42 (6x). - Europe, Russia, Canada, U.S.A. - Numerous reports.
Löve and Löve (1975a) assigned almost all reports of hexaploids to Acetosella vulgaris, some from the Arctic, but most of these were originally reported for Rumex acetosella s. lat.

Geography: European - Asian (W): ICE NOR RUS* SIB* RFE* CAN* GRL**.

Notes: Subspecies acetosella reaches the Arctic as native in Europe. We have considered this to be the most frequent weed of the group in all temperate areas but may be wrong. Mosyakin (2005) rather considered subsp. pyrenaicus (Pourr. ex Lapeyr.) Akeroyd to be the most widespread (weedy) race in North America.
