410719 Rumex acetosella L.
- L., Sp. Pl.: 338 (1753). Lectotype (LINN): Europe. Herb. Linn. 464.41 (Löve 1983a: 164). See discussion in Jarvis (2007: 803). - Acetosella vulgaris Fourr., Ann. Soc. Linn. Lyon, sér. 2, 17: 145 (1869). Nomen novum for Rumex acetosella L.
Geography: Amphi-Atlantic - European - Asian (W).
Notes: No unambiguous way has been found to divide this very polymorphic species (Elven 2000). Different morphological criteria give widely different solutions and none of them correspond well with the ploidy differences. Den Nijs (1984) summarized the taxonomic position since the first revisions of Löve. The proposed races do not well conform to subspecies as they are sympatric to parapatric, and even if they are difficult to circumscribe clearly, there is little if any information on transitions or hybrids.
