Desv., J. Bot. (Desvaux) 1: 142 (1808). - Luzula parviflora var. melanocarpa (Michx.) Buchenau in Engl., Pflanzenreich IV-36, 25: 62 (1906).

Geography: North American (NE): CAN.
Notes: Kirschner et al. (2002a) mapped subsp. melanocarpa from the Arctic around Churchill on the southwestern side of Hudson Bay, Manitoba, and from northern Labrador.
