Notes: Parker, Murray, and Elven: The otherwise eastern Asian species Saussurea triangulata has recently been found in the Borderline Arctic in the Waring Mountains in western Alaska. It belongs to a different group from the other species that reach the Arctic. Keil (2006) reported it from Chukotka but Barkalov (1992) only mapped occurrence north to the southern Okhotsk Sea coast, leaving a huge gap of nearly 5000 km to the Alaskan localities.
