8628-31 The Senecio group of genera
Notes: Elven, Korobkov, Murray, and Yurtsev: The segregates named as Tephroseris and Packera are morphologically distinct. We accept them as genera apart from Senecio as did Barkley and Murray (2006, Tephroseris) and Trock (2006b, Packera). They are supported as genera in the Senecioneae phylogeny of Pelser et al. (2007). More recently, the Senecio jacobaea group has proved distinct from Senecio and is now accepted as Jacobaea (Pelser et al. 2004, 2007). The genera previously considered parts of or close to Senecio group into two main clades, a Tussilago-Petasites clade with Parasenecio, Ligularia, and Tephroseris (in addition to Tussilago, Petasites, and Endocellion), and a Senecio clade with Senecio, Jacobaea, and Packera.
