The report of a tetraploid by Chmielewski and Chinnappa (1990) is outside Bayer's concept of this taxon.

Notes: Porsild & Cody (1980) mapped subsp. confinis (as Antennaria elegans) as possibly present in the Borderline Arctic in the Great Bear Lake area in the Northwest Territories.
