Solidago canadensis var. salebrosa has for a long time been accepted from the Yukon Territory (e.g., Cody 1996) and Alaska (e.g., Hultén 1968a). Semple and Cook (2006) assigned var. salebrosa to S. lepida and mapped it to reach only north to southernmost western Canada.
