860101-04 The Solidago virgaurea aggregate S. dahurica, S. multiradiata, S. spiraefolia, S. virgaurea

Geography: Nearly circumboreal-polar.

Notes: The Solidago virgaurea aggregate is widely distributed in the northern regions except for Greenland, Iceland, and parts of Siberia. There is a primary longitudinal division into European S. virgaurea, Siberian and Far East S. dahurica and S. spiraefolia, and Chukotkan and North American S. multiradiata, and secondary divisions in Europe and perhaps in Beringia. This pattern may be represented as 5-6 species (Korobkov PAF proposal, comments) or as 3-4 species, two with races (our choice).
