810202-07 The Castilleja pallida aggregate C. caudata, C. hyparctica, C. lapponica, C. pallida, C. pavlovii, C. yukonis
Geography: European (N) - Asian (N) - amphi-Beringian.
Notes: Egger (2008) treated these taxa as six varieties of C. pallida. We enter them as species due to little information on intergradation or genetic differences. Other authors have included even more of the northern species in this aggregate: C. septentrionalis (e.g., Scoggan 1979), C. rubra (e.g., Drobow 1912), and C. elegans (e.g., Pennell 1934). The relatively high species diversity reported by Rebristaya among the northern Eurasian plants, disappears if the majority of Eurasian taxa are lumped in C. pallida.
