Notes: Elven and Murray: Lansdown (2006a) accepted a second race - subsp. macrocarpa - from Europe and has suggested this race to be present also in the northern North American material (several annotations in ALA). The difference from the type race is in fruit size. No range is given. We are reluctant to accept two nearly fully sympatric subspecies based on this character alone.
