Geography: European (N): NOR RUS?
Notes: Thymus serpyllum subsp. tanaënsis is restricted to northeastern Fennoscandia. Jalas (1947: 20) proposed as lectotype (H): Finland: Kuusamo, "par. Kuusamo, Paanajärvi, Kauppila, ins. Hietasaari", 11. July 1936, leg. H. Lindberg, Plantae Finlandiae exsiccatae Nr. 2071. Jalas' type must be rejected because it is from a region 400 km away from the Tana River region which was the only area Hylander mentioned in the protologue, and because there are very numerous specimens from the Tana region available for choice of a type, predating Hylander's description and certainly studied by Hylander before he published the name.
