The majority of chromosome numbers reported from the type region are around 2n = 72, which must be 12x. It is probable that the lowermost numbers, 2n = 12 and 24 (2x, 4x), belong to other, possibly parental low-ploids in the complex.
Geography: European - Asian: RUS* RFE.
Notes: Probatova (1995) reported the plants from the Senyavin Hot Springs in East Chukotka as Mentha arvensis, not M. canadensis which occurs farther south in the Russian Far East and also in geothermal sites in western Alaska.
