Geography: North American (NE): CAN GRL.

Notes: Subspecies microphyllus seems to have the main morphology of Oxycoccus microcarpus but the chromosome number of O. palustris. It might be a case of autopolyploidy (from O. microcarpus) or of introgression from O. microcarpus into O. palustris in a restricted part of northeastern North America and Greenland. Lange (1887) described it without reference to and perhaps without knowledge of O. microcarpus. Its assignment as a race to O. palustris should perhaps be reconsidered.
