Notes: The relationships among the species of sect. Aleuritia are comparatively clear. They have, however, often been mistaken for each other, see Porsild and Cody (1980) vs. Kelso (1991a) for the Hudson-Labrador area, Hultén (1968a) vs. Kelso (1991a) for Alaska and the Yukon Territory, and Korobkov (1980) vs. the current account for northern Russia.
Kelso (1991a, 2009c) assigned Primula egaliksensis to sect. Armerina and discussed it vs. P. nutans. The two differ significantly in a number of features: heterostyly vs. homostyly, morphology, growth habit, and chromosome number. She gave the base chromosome number of sect. Armerina as x = 11 but did not comment on the indicated x = 9 and 10 in P. egaliksensis, a number more in accordance with sect. Aleuritia. Guggisberg et al. (2006) found the relationships of P. egaliksensis to be closer to sect. Aleuritia and especially to the two North American species P. laurentiana and P. mistassinica. Kelso (2009c) concluded that P. egaliksensis is an intersectional hybrid "with the morphology of sect. Armerina and maternal parentage in sect. Aleuritia". For practical reasons, we describe it under sect. Aleuritia.
