Notes: Elven and Andersen: Draba arctogena, as described by Ekman (1929) and considered by Böcher (1966a), is at the same ploidy level as D. cinerea but generally more northernly distributed. It is confirmed from Greenland and northeastern Canada. In a phenetic analysis (Andersen et al. 1999; Andersen 2003), Greenland material of D. arctogena (including holotype and five isotypes) grouped in a cluster with a major part of the Svalbard material of D. rupestris rather than with a second cluster of Svalbard and Greenland material of D. arctica (including Vahl's syntypes), Greenland material of D. oblongata (including syntypes of Ekman's D. groenlandica), Greenland material of D. ostenfeldii E.Ekman (including types), and Scandinavian and Greenland material of D. cinerea.

Russian authors and Petrovsky (PAF proposal) have suggested occurrence of D. arctogena also throughout northeastern Asia eastwards from Kharaulakh. Petrovsky commented that the plants from Kharaulakh perhaps may belong to D. parvisiliquosa but that the plants from Wrangel Island resemble D. arctogena very much and should be assigned to that species. We confirm the similarity in many features (hair types on leaves and fruits, and low stature and fruit shape) but restrict the name D. arctogena to the Atlantic plants, whereas the northeastern Asian ones are entered as D. sp. aff. arctogena.
