671102 Parrya nauruaq Al-Shehbaz et al.

Distribution

Western Alaska: Rare
Shrub Tundra: Rare

Geography: American Beringian: ALA.

Notes: Parker and Elven: Plants deviating strongly from Parrya nudicaulis in morphology were recently found in a few localities on the Seward Peninsula, western Alaska. These plants are distinct with very thick stocks, broadly spathulate leaves, large and striped petals, and short and broad fruits. They were published as the new species P. nauruaq (Al-Shehbaz et al. 2007). We agree with the recognition of this very spectacular species.
