Notes: Potentilla borealis is assumed to be a hybrid species from P. anachoretica and P. arenosa subsp. arenosa. Alaskan occurrence, as proposed by Yurtsev (PAF proposal), has not been confirmed.
Yurtsev: The hypothesis of hybrid origin should be tested. Ultrastructure data do not contradict the hybrid hypothesis though the characters of P. arenosa are better represented: petioles without wool with layer of shorter straight hairs under that of longer inclined ones.
