Notes: Soják and Yurtsev assigned a large group of truly pinnate-leaved species to this section and considered similar (possibly related) species with semipinnate or semidigitate leaves to be hybrids between species of sect. Pensylvanicae and other sections. The arctic representatives of this section belong to four groups: (a) the distinct, predominantly arctic species Potentilla pulchella, (b) the mainly boreal-temperate and continental P. multifida aggregate, (c) the predominantly arctic group of P. anachoretica, P. lyngei, and P. wrangelii, and (d) the mainly boreal-temperate P. pensylvanica aggregate (see Soják 1987 for the variation in Eurasia).
