2n= 42 (6x). - Far East (N, S), Canada (W). - At least five reports.
Not included: A report of 2n = 42 (6x) from Alaska: "seeds from Mt McKinley National Park" (Löve and Löve 1975d), an improbable location for this coastal species.

Geography: Amphi-Pacific: ALA.

Notes: Geum calthifolium reaches the Arctic in St. Matthew Island (Hultén 1968a). Hultén's (1968a) statement, that Geum (Parageum) calthifolium hybridizes with Geum (Acomastylis) rossii where they meet, should be taken into consideration if segregate genera in this group is considered. We have inspected numerous collections of convincing southwestern Alaskan hybrids (in S).
