Notes: Nordborg (1958, 1963) investigated cytology and morphology in Sanguisorba officinalis. Löve and Löve (1975a) considered the octoploid S. polygama and the tetraploid S. officinalis s. str. two species. See also Nordborg (1963). The ploidy variation is extensive but the observed morphological variation is slight. No additional species or subspecific taxa are proposed.
