2n= (1) 12 14 (2x). - Europe, Siberia, Asia (C), Far East. - Numerous reports.
(2) 21 21-24 (3x). - Europe. - Several reports.
(3) 27 28 30 (4x). - Europe, Canada, Greenland. - Numerous reports.
This is another case where Löve and Löve (1975a) 'corrected' the data. They reported a uniform 2n = 28 for this species but their referred sources have many numbers slightly deviating from 28, equally frequent reports of 2n = 14, and already at their time some reports of 2n = 21. Diploids, triploids, and tetraploids do not seem to differ morphologically and are all present in the northern areas.

Geography: European - Asian (W): ICE NOR RUS SIB CAN* GRL*.

Notes: Vicia cracca is an archaeophyte in Greenland where it seems to be an adventive from Medieval times, introduced with the Norse immigrants (Porsild 1932; Pedersen 1972; Böcher et al. 1978). The species is polymorphic.
