Notes: Yurtsev: Four populations with significant interpopulation polymorphism form a peculiar race Yurtsev probably meant species restricted to the montane valley of the Lena River, just on the boundary between central and eastern Siberia. Oxytropis inopinata differs from O. vasskovskyi in colour of flowers (sordid white with dark spots vs. red/blue), more viscid legumes, and glandless white stipules. Of four known populations three are subarctic, whereas one is in the southernmost tundra zone. The latter is the most peculiar with short teeth of calyx, calyx black hirsute (hairs mask glands), and stipules without glands (Trautvetter erroneously took this plant for O. sordida). The nearest locality of O. vasskovskyi, rather distant from the main range of the species, is just east of the Verkhoyansk Range in its northern part. The occurrence of O. inopinata is, no doubt, of relictual nature. More data on the distribution of this lower Lena River taxon are needed for specification of the rank and status of O. inopinata. The only tundra population may prove to be a subspecies of the subarctic O. inopinata.
