Geography: American Beringian: (ALA).
Notes: Murray and Elven: Oxytropis tananensis has recently been found in the Borderline Arctic in northern Alaska (ALA).
The semiverticillate leaflets are characteristic but otherwise this species is very similar to O. varians which also regularly has some semiverticillate leaflets. We have inspected the type and many other specimens from the type locality (and other localities) and are reluctant to accept O. tananensis. We rather see it as part of the quite impressive variation within O. varians, in a different section. Welsh (2001) synonymized O. tananensis with his O. campestris var. varians.
