2n=
32 (4x). - Far East (N). - Pavlova et al. (1989).
Geography: Asian Beringian.
Notes: Elven and Murray: Oxytropis vassilczenkoi was previously (and also more recently, Kozhevnikov 1980) considered one or more races of O. adamsiana. It replaces O. adamsiana east of the Kolyma River.
Yurtsev: It is similar in general appearance to O. adamsiana but differs constantly in several characters of different parts of the plant.
Elven and Murray: Two subspecies were proposed by Yurtsev. We do not find them very different and they are largely sympatric.
Yurtsev: The species occurs in two eco-geographical races with ranges differing in details. Subspecies substepposa is perhaps closer than subsp. vassilczenkoi to O. uschakovii; some of the leaflets are sometimes subverticillate in O. uschakovii and O. vassilczenkoi subsp. substepposa, which might be explained by hybridization with xerophytic species of section Baicalia.
