2n= 16 (2x). - Siberia (N). - Several reports, numerous counts.
Not included: One of the three reports Löve and Löve (1975a) included for the Asian O. nigrescens s. str. is North American (Holmen 1962). See also Yurtsev's comment on the Holmen count under O. kokrinensis.

Geography: Asian (N): SIB.

Notes: Yurtsev: I consider Oxytropis nigrescens to represent an ancestral morphotype in the aggregate, characterized especially by more leaflets per leaf and more flowers per inflorescence than the others, and by difference in bracts.

Elven: I agree in the distinctness of Siberian O. nigrescens from the Beringian and North American species.
