- Sukaczev, Trudy Bot. Muz. Imp. Akad. Nauk 8: 220 (1911). Described from "Sibiria orientali" (Transbaikal, Jakutsk, Amur), i.e., Siberia and the Russian Far East. Syntypes in LE.
- Betula cajanderi Sukaczev, Acta Forest. Fenn. 34, 13: 1 (1929). Described from Yakutia (Siberia).
- Betula cajanderi subsp. minutifolia Kozhevn., Bot. Zhurn. 59: 504 (1974). Holotype (LE): Russian Far East: central Chukotka, "in systemate fl. Czantalveergyn, ad ostiam fl. Telekaj sinistr.", 09. July 1972, leg. Yu. Kozhevnikov.

Geography: Asian (NE): RFE.
Notes: Yurtsev (in comment) proposed the northern plants as Betula cajanderi subsp. minutiflora, stated to reach the Arctic in West Chukotka but not mapped from there by Nedolushko (1996a). We include them in the broader concept of B. platyphylla, a major northeastern Asian species.
