580241 Salix lanata L.
- L., Sp. Pl.: 1019 (1753). Lectotype (LINN): Sweden: "Lapland". Herb. Linn. 1158.54 (Jonsell and Jarvis 1994: 151).
Geography: European (N) - Asian (NW) & Asian (C).
Notes: Elven: A species besides Salix lanata has often been accepted in northern Europe: S. glandulifera (e.g., Rechinger 1964; Hylander 1966; Rechinger and Akeroyd 1993a). Elven and Karlsson (2000) treated these two as subsp. lanata and subsp. glandulifera. Other authors have accepted two varieties. The two are rather different morphologically but intermediates (hybrids) are more frequent than pure S. glandulifera. The situation is not an obvious case of races. Salix glandulifera is included below as a var. glandulosa.
