- Epilobium americanum Hausskn., Oesterr. Bot. Z. 29: 118 (1879). Type: Canada: "hab. ad flum. Saskatchawan", leg. Bourgeau.

Geography: Amphi-Pacific - North American: ICE* ALA CAN.
Notes: In North America, subsp. ciliatum reaches the Arctic in Alaska and on Hudson Bay. We have recorded it as native there but it may be adventive. In Europe, it occurs in the Arctic as an established adventive in Iceland (Kristinsson 2008) and will probably soon be so in Norway.
