500102-05 The Micranthes stellaris aggregate M. ferruginea, M. foliolosa, M. redofskyi, M. stellaris

Geography: Circumpolar-alpine.

Notes: In an Arctic context, this aggregate (the Spatularia group, subsect. Stellares) contains three regularly seed-reproducing species - the amphi-Atlantic Micranthes stellaris, the northwestern North American M. ferruginea, and the northeastern Asian M. redofskyi - and one mainly bulbil-reproducing species, the circumpolar M. foliolosa. The genetic and evolutionary relationships among these are under study (Tribsch unpubl.). The three seed-reproducing species are well distinguished morphologically and probably also molecularly. For the bulbil-reproducing M. foliolosa, see notes below.
