Notes: Elven, Murray, and Petrovsky: In our opinion, subsp. arctica is the high-arctic race of Silene uralensis. It is documented from northernmost Alaska and Canada, Greenland, Svalbard, Novaya Zemlya, Vaigach, and the northernmost parts of Chukotka. Much material from northern Siberia and the Russian Far East should be checked again but field-investigated material from northern Yakutia and mainland Chukotka belongs to subsp. uralensis. We have not identified with certainty any transitions towards subsp. uralensis. The morphological differences are, however, not very many.
