Notes: Several authors consider Eremogone polaris a subspecies of E. procera (Spreng. ex Hornem.) Rchb., Icon. Fl. Germ. Helv. 5: 33 (1841) [Arenaria procera Spreng. ex Hornem., Hort. Bot. Hafn. 1: 424 (1813)]. The east-central European and southern Siberian E. procera is low-ploid, reported from central Europe with 2n = 22 (2x; Májovský 1974) and from Siberia with 2n = 44 (4x; Malakhova 1990), and probably specifically different. The "polaris" taxon has not yet been combined as subspecies in Eremogone.
