Notes: We are close to certain that the name Cerastium arcticum var. sordidum belongs to a hybrid and not to this taxon. Its holotype (S!): Norway: Svalbard, Spitsbergen, Advent Bay, Point, leg. J. Lagercrantz, illustrated by Hultén (1956: pl. III.3), looks very much like the frequent hybrid C. arcticum x regelii, e.g., in being subglabrous with subrotund leaves and comparatively large-flowered, mostly with single or few pedunculate flowers per stem. In these and other aspects it is very different from the "Arctic Dwarf" which has comparatively narrow leaves with dense, stiff hairs, and unusually small flowers in very dense cymes.
