Geography: European (N) - Asian (NW): NOR RUS SIB.

Notes: In addition to northern Fennoscandia, Stellaria fennica is present in northeastern European Russia and northwestern Siberia (numerous specimens seen in LE). The maps by Jalas and Suominen (1983) of S. fennica and S. palustris for northern Russia are strange and might indicate that different morphological criteria have been applied by their Russian sources in these areas compared with Finland, Sweden, and Norway. The same is reflected in Lashchenkova (1976a, for var. fennica). The Russian range of S. fennica has been underestimated and that of S. palustris overestimated. A revision of the Russian material is needed.

In Norway S. fennica is known from several small populations in three localities, one from the boreal parts in the Pasvik valley (Alm and Often 2008a) along the border with Russia, and two from the Borderline Arctic and Arctic in the Vadsø area (Elven and Solstad 2000; Karlsen 2003; Elven et al. in prep.).
