410712-13 The Rumex maritimus aggregate R. fueginus, R. maritimus
Geography: European - Asian (W) & North American - South American.
Notes: Snogerup (2000) discussed the options for the European plants of Rumex maritimus s. lat. as did Mosyakin (2005) for the North American ones: two species, two subspecies, two varieties, or just an undivided species. There are differential characters, the separation problems are mainly found in South America, and the two taxa seem to be less closely related than previously assumed (compare Snogerup and Mosyakin). We accept two species which may have been allopatric before anthropogenic spread.
