410704-06 The Rumex aquaticus-arcticus aggregate R. aquaticus, R. arcticus, R. occidentalis
Geography: Circumboreal-polar.
Notes: Hultén (1971a) accepted a broadly circumscribed Rumex aquaticus with four subspecies: subsp. aquaticus and subsp. protractus in Eurasia, subsp. fenestratus in the amphi-Pacific regions and North America, and subsp. occidentalis in North America. Tolmachev (1966b) proposed that one of the races he accepted within R, aquaticus (subsp. insularis) could be due to hybridization with R. arcticus. The three species of this aggregate are insufficiently characterized.
