14 (2x). - Europe, Russia, Siberia, Far East, Canada, U.S.A., Greenland. - Numerous reports.
Not included: There are several reports of 2n = 42 (6x) from southern Siberia and central Asia. These may belong to a different race or species (the otherwise Himalayan O. elatior R. Br. ex Meissn.?). The scant material we have inspected from these areas differ morphologically from the northern plants.
