2n= ca. 84-140 (12x-20x). - Europe (N), Russia (N), Siberia (N, S), Far East (N), Alaska, Canada. - Numerous reports, numerous counts, about half of them at 2n = 112 (16x).

Geography: Circumpolar: NOR RUS SIB RFE ALA CAN.

Notes: A thorough study of the isolated southern Norwegian populations is Berg (1965). These populations (large, but in a confined area) differ morphologically from all the northern plants (Elven et al. 2010) and suggest some bottleneck event in their establishment.
