Notes: Elven and Murray: We have not discussed or evaluated the delimitation of subsp. kolymensis from the other parts of Hierochloë odorata and H. hirta. Peschkova (1990d) accepted subsp. kolymensis as a species - H. annulata - and stated it to differ from H. odorata and to be morphologically more similar to H. glabra or H. sibirica. The Alaskan material we have inspected (two collections from the Seward Peninsula, ALA) conform to the reported differences from H. odorata: callus glabrous, lemma of central floret shiny and only with short hairs at the very apex, and almost no awns on lemmas of lateral florets.
