Geography: Amphi-Pacific - North American: ALA CAN GRL.

Notes: Áskell Löve several times reported Leymus mollis as native to Iceland and reported its tetraploid chromosome number from there (e.g., Löve 1950, 1970a). This was one among may attempts to 'strengthen' the American element in the Icelandic flora. Later researchers have not been able to confirm the species as native to Iceland or the occurrence of tetraploids there. The species is, however, reported as introduced more recently (see Kristinsson 2008), to have escaped, but not to reach the Arctic. Iceland is omitted.
