Notes: Carex recta does not reach the Arctic on the European side. Chater (1980) considered the Scottish plants to probably have developed from C. aquatilis x paleacea, and that is the origin proposed also for the Canadian plants (Cayouette and Morisset 1985, 1986). The name C. recta has been applied both for the northeastern North American and for the Scottish and southern Scandinavian plants.
