3309069 Carex lyngbyei Hornem.

GBIF

Geography: Amphi-Atlantic & amphi-Pacific/Beringian.

Notes: The vast disjunction in the range of Carex lyngbyei between the Atlantic and Pacific coasts (gaps of 140 longitude between Europe and eastern Asia and 70 between Greenland and western Canada) are associated with a few characters. Two subspecies have been described. Standley et al. (2002) did not accept them, whereas we do.

Carex lyngbyei differs from the other Temnemis species in not being particularly restricted to seashores. In Iceland, it is one of the most common of tall-grown sedges in inland mires and swamps.
