GBIF

2n= 54 56. - Europe (N, C). - Several reports.
Not included: A report of 2n = 36 (Löve et al. 1957) probably belongs to another taxon of the complex or to a quite different plant (see Ball's note to C. williamsii above).

Geography: Amphi-Atlantic - European - Asian (W): NOR RUS SIB GRL.

Notes: Solstad and Elven: Material from northern Iceland (AMNH, ICEL, O, S), i.e., the arctic parts, belongs to subsp. fuscidula but subsp. capillaris is present as rare in non-arctic parts of Iceland. Subspecies capillaris is restricted to the mainland in Norway. The subspecies is amphi-Atlantic because southern Greenland plants belong to subsp. capillaris, probably also some plants in eastern Canada (at least in Newfoundland - Labrador).
