- Steud., Syn. Pl. Glumac. 2: 76 (1855). Described from Ohio (U.S.A.).
Geography: North American: (ALA).
Notes: Smith et al. (2002) reported the related but distinctive Eleocharis erythropoda from Alaska, the Northwest Territories, and Manitoba. Two of the three documented (ALA) Alaskan localities for E. erythropoda are close to the arctic boundary (at the Great Kobuk Sand Dunes in western Alaska and near Bettles in northern Alaska). We enter it as possibly present in the Borderline Arctic because this genus is notoriously under-collected in northwestern North America.
