330511-13 The Eriophorum russeolum aggregate E. chamissonis, E. x medium, E. russeolum
Geography: Circumboreal.
Notes: Elven and Murray: Ball and Wujek (2002) merged several races described within Eriophorum russeolum under E. chamissonis as an assumed priority name. They excluded, however, E. russeolum s. str. We, like Cayouette (2004), rather follow Novoselova's proposal and accept E. chamissonis and E. russeolum as two distinctly different species, the latter with two major races (subspecies). Cayouette restricted the geographical range of E. chamissonis (compared with Novoselova) to the Pacific regions. We do the same (Elven and Murray in prep.). For practical reasons we include the hybrid species E. x medium (E. russeolum x E. scheuchzeri) in the discussion of this aggregate.
