320118 Juncus gerardii Loisel.
- Loisel., J. Bot. (Desvaux) 2: 284 (1809). Described from Provence (France). Lectotype not designated (Kirschner et al. 2002c).
Geography: Amphi-Atlantic - European - Asian (W).
Notes: Juncus gerardii is probably functionally tetraploid. We accept two subspecies - subsp. gerardii and subsp. atrofuscus - as major and largely allopatric geographical races. The morphological differences are clear (e.g., Snogerup 1980; Kirschner et al. 2002c; Elven et al. 2005) but transitional forms occur in their narrow meeting zone in northern Norway.
