320110 Juncus articulatus subsp. articulatus L.

Distribution

Northern Iceland: Frequent
Shrub Tundra: Rare
Bordering boreal or alpine areas: Scattered

2n= 80. - Europe, Canada (W). - Numerous reports.

Geography: European - Asian: ICE.

Notes: Egorova (PAF proposal) reported Juncus articulatus to reach the Arctic in Yana-Kolyma in northeastern Siberia. Kovtonyuk (1987) and Kirschner et al. (2002b) reported and mapped the species as quite southern in Siberia, without any northern occurrence. We suspect that the Yana-Kolyma record is based on misidentification and exclude Siberia. Other races occur in more temperate regions.
