Kirschner et al. (2002b) reported the chromosome numbers of this subspecies as 2n = ca. 120 and ca. 130 with reference to Micieta (1983).
Not included: A report of 2n = ca. 134 from Iceland (Löve and Löve 1956b, omitted by Löve and Löve 1975a).
Geography: European (N) - Asian (NW-C): ICE NOR RUS SIB.
Notes: In Europe, Juncus triglumis is restricted to the mainland parts and Iceland.
