Not included: Two reports of 2n = 42 and ca. 42 from North America (Stern 1961) and northeastern Asia (Probatova and Sokolovskaya 1984c). Both need verification. This chromosome number, if real, must have a base number different from what is found elsewhere in the genus: x = 13.
Geography: Circumboreal: ICE RUS SIB (CAN) GRL.
Notes: In North America, Potamogeton natans reaches the Borderline Arctic only, in the Hudson Bay area (Haynes and Hellquist 2000c).
